Victor C. von Buchstab,
Technical Field Editor
An only-slightly-scathed survivor of a
noisy birth in Berlin in 1941, followed by 26 different
graded-schools in Germany, Austria, Alsace-Lorraine, Switzerland,
and Canada, Victor has been in the communications business
since 1969, following eight years in the research and high-technology
fields. After joining Maclean Hunter in 1969, he was Editor
with Southam Communications Inc, Corpus Inc. (later another
Southam Group) as newsletter editor, with additional responsibilities
for the firm's environmental law legislative information
services and organizer of two major, national conferences.
He has been Editor of: Stereo Video Guide; Canadian
Plastics; Canadian Controls + Instruments; Eco Log Week;
Administrative Digest; Data Canada; Electrical News &
Engineering; and Canadian Facility Management + Design magazine.
Currently he is Technical Field Editor for Design Engineering
and Canadian FundRaiser, concurrently with being Contributing
Editor on MarketNews. He also provides complete
editorial packages, from time to time, for various newspaper
supplements, including The Toronto Star, The Globe &
Mail, National Post The Gazette (Montreal) and other
newspapers.
Victor's work has been published in a broad stable of Canadian
and American publications, including: The Financial
Post, Today, Physician/Sportsmedicine, Ski Canada, Eco/Log
Week, Executive, Humber Magazine World, Toronto Star's City
Magazine, Dialogue, Gifts & Tablewares, Canadian Research,
Canadian Petroleum, The Loyalist Gazette, CGA Magazine,
The Toronto Sun, The Medical Post, and dozens of others,
on topics ranging from arts and crafts, through humor, history
and the future, to science and technology.
When hes not writing about hardware or software,
on the tennis court or teaching the Tango, Viktor gets on-line
with his grand-daughter, Melanie.
