Suzanne Gibson, Contributing Editor, Corporate Partnerships
Suzanne Gibson has been working in the
nonprofit community-based sector in Canada for over fifteen
years. Working with local, provincial, national and international
organizations, her focus has been primarily in areas related
to social service provision, including poverty, homelessness,
community services, childrens and youth programming,
immigrant and refugee services, and women's issues.
As founding Executive Director of Raising the Roof, Suzanne
led a team of committed staff and volunteers in the development
of a new charity dedicated to finding long-term solutions
to homelessness. Over a three-year period, she was able
to leverage $15,000 into $1.4 million in support. Further,
during this time, the organization secured more than $1.3
million in media gift-in-kind. This work involved developing
and managing extensive partnerships in the corporate, faith,
foundation, and media sectors.
As a consultant since 1993, Suzanne has worked with more
than sixty nonprofit organizations to help them develop
the resources, organizational capacity and leadership to
achieve their mandates and vision. Suzanne is an instructor
at Ryerson University in Toronto in the fundraising certificate
program and speaks extensively on a wide range of issues
related to fund development, leadership, and nonprofit management.
