John Webster Hochstadt,
Contributing Editor, Western Canada
John survived to the age of majority in
New York City and subsequently worked in neuropsychology
research, low-temperature physics, psychiatric social work,
commercial fishing, alternative energy, and beekeeping.
With a Master of Public Administration degree from Queens
University he worked on a Metro Toronto United Way campaign,
then joined the University of Toronto as Director of Planned
Gifts & Bequests, and in 1994 moved to Mount Sinai Hospital
Foundation.
A founding Director of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners, John chaired the inaugural CAGP conference and served as their first National Chair, while maintaining a consulting practice in program design and evaluation. He began publishing both fiction and non-fiction in 1980, most recently in Canadian Fundraising & Philanthropy, Descant, the Globe and Mail, Alberta Outdoorsman, and Alternatives Journal. In June 2002 he became Contributing Editor to Canadian Fundraising & Philanthropy, based in Twin Butte Alberta and covering western Canada.
