Nathan
Garber, Contributing Editor, Governance
Nathan Garber &
Associates was established in 1986 to assist
nonprofit organizations in organizational development,
governance, strategic and program planning, evaluation,
technology and Board-CEO relations. Nathan Garber is founder
and principal consultant. He has spent nearly thirty-five
years helping nonprofit organizations to achieve their goals.
As Executive Director of Information London and Across
Languages, he led both organizations to international
recognition for innovative and creative solutions in their
fields. He has a strong record of successful fundraising
through grants and special events. As a consultant for federal
and provincial governments and in private practice he has
provided advisory services and training for more than two
hundred organizations of all types and sizes. Governance
issues, board-staff relations, program evaluation, community
collaboration and organizational structure are Nathan’s
special interests. Since 1991, he has taught courses on
governance for certificate and diploma programs in nonprofit
management and arts management at the University of Western
Ontario. He was founding editor of Nonprofit Boards &
Governance Review, an e-newsletter with more than 7,000
subscribers. His writing has been published in Canada, the
USA, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Australia. He
was recognized in both The Chronicle of Philanthropy and Front
& Centre for his innovative work in the evaluation of
executive directors and has received awards from Canadian
Crossroads International and the London Coordinating
Committee to End Woman Abuse.
