BOARD RELATIONS     -

Now offers educational support for senior staff

Altruvest Charitable Services, known for its various services and educational programs for members of charitable boards of directors, has turned its attention to the needs of executive directors of nonprofits to optimize the value of their relations with their boards.

It introduced BoardWorx Executive Director in two pilot projects last fall in Toronto and Peel Region, and, those having been successful, plans to offer more in the future.

Next confirmed date is February 22 and 23 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the United Way of York Region. Others are expected in the remaining spring months in other southern Ontario locations.

The program, provided for free for a limit of 25 participants, starts with two half-day in-class training sessions facilitated by Altruvest staff, followed by peer learning circles, two-hour monthly sessions for six months.

Participants then have ongoing access to experienced executive director mentors to provide guidance and advice as needed, as well as access to eLearning modules to complement their learning, addressing human resources, resource development and board orientation.

The announcement of the course claims that executive directors will increase their level of confidence in their ability to work effectively with their volunteer board, become more skilled in working with their board and addressing governance challenges, and begin to view and utilize their volunteer board as a strategic asset.
